My Top 5 Healthy Spots in Chicago

I am always on the hunt for healthy places to eat in the city.

There always seems to be a new health food trends emerging, but below are my old faithful favorites for a healthy meal or snack in Chicago.

True Food Kitchen

I could eat 3 meals a day at this spot. This health driven restaurant has ever changing seasonal ingredients that drives a flavor forward menu. I love their Ancient Grains Bowl, Kale Guacamole and Fennel Chicken Sausage Pizza. Plus, you can indulge in any of their desserts guilt free. TFK also has various locations throughout the US.

Left Coast

This joint was created with the mantra that eating healthy should be quick, easy and still taste delicious. Left Coast is trying to change people’s perception that healthy food is dull and flavorless. All of their ingredients are locally sourced and the menu has a California cool vibe. I could sip on their Mornin’ Buzz smoothie every day and eat the California Love wrap daily.

Finally a spot that just focuses on salads and bowls! I am always searching for a new place to get my leafy green fix and sweetgreen never disappoints. I don’t have a favorite order here yet, because there are always new things on the menu for me to try. They also specialize in healthy and innovative salad dressing options, which is a nice change from a standard vinaigrette.

Real Good Juice Co.

Doesn’t the name say it all? This is my absolute favorite spot for smoothies. My usuals are: Silky Smooth Sounds of Sonny Sanderon’s Saxophone, Kal E. Kapowski and Sweet Dreams of Falkor. The menu also has a variety of toasts, bowls and wraps. With various locations in the city and outposts at Whole Foods, you can always get your Real Good Juice Co. fix.

Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen

This is the oldest jaunt on my list – an oldie but goodie. There is something for everyone at Doc B’s. All of their salads are delicious, but my personal favorite is The #1 Tuna Salad. If I feel like indulging a bit more I go for the Turkey Burger paired with their amazing Sweet Potato Fries. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.

What are some of your favorite healthy spots in the city?

Oh! I love learning more about spots like this! I live in the burbs, but whenever I head downtown (my sister lives in North Center), I like to try new places!
